Cannulation and Initiation
This course discusses different types of ECMO cannula as well as cannulation sites. It also covers the roles of the different team members involved in cannulation.
After completing this course, the learner will be able to:
1. Delineate the team members involved in placing a patient on ECMO
2. Describe the priming of the ECMO circuit
3. Explain the connection of the patient to the circuit and initiating blood flow process
4. Define the stabilization period for the ECMO patient
5. Discuss the potential complications that may occur during cannulation
